Teach a class to get on the air

Eight after-school sessions take your students from “what is this” to running their own net from their phones. You need no radio background: a partner club brings the handhelds, the licence and a volunteer at the radio. Every session is written out below — use it as it is, or change it.

The sessions

  1. What amateur radio does that your phone cannot · 45 min
  2. Listen first · 45 min
  3. The license path in eight weeks · 45 min
  4. First contact, in class · 60 min
  5. Run a net from the phone · 45 min
  6. Build an antenna and measure it · 60 min
  7. When the network is down · 45 min
  8. What next · 45 min

Clubs and the schools they work with

None yet. If your club has a school, an officer adds it from the club’s page.

Teachers: pick a club near you on the clubs page and write to them. Clubs: the Schools page in the wiki has the programme outline and what to agree with the school before session one.
